Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 14 minutes
Special Equipment: deep baking dish

Ingredients

  • 1 (12-count) package Hawaiian rolls

  • 1 cup apple pie filling, roughly chopped

  • 2 (0.74 oz) pouches apple cider drink mix (Alpine Spiced Apple Cider® or similar)

  • 2 oz cream cheese, softened

  • 5 tbsp butter, divided

  • ½ cup sugar

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • ¼–½ cup chopped pecans (toasted if possible)

  • Caramel sauce (for drizzle)

Directions

  1. Prep Rolls: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Keep rolls connected as a slab. Using a paring knife, cut an “X” in the top of each roll, pressing down to form a well.

  2. Make Filling: Roughly chop apple pie filling. Stir in 1 packet of apple cider mix. Mix softened cream cheese into filling until swirled and creamy.

  3. Ceramic Dish Prep (Sticky-Bottom Option): Butter the bottom of a ceramic baking dish. Sprinkle a thin dusting (1–2 tbsp) of the cinnamon–sugar mix. Place the roll slab into the dish.

  4. Fill Rolls: Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the apple–cream cheese filling into each roll well.

  5. Butter + Bake: Melt 4 tablespoons butter and brush generously over the tops and exposed sides of rolls. Bake 12–14 minutes, until golden brown.

  6. Sugar Topping: Mix the remaining cider packet with sugar and cinnamon. Melt the remaining 1 tablespoon butter. Brush warm tops with butter, then sprinkle the sugar mixture evenly over them.

  7. Caramel Pecan Finish: Drizzle warm rolls with caramel sauce. Sprinkle chopped pecans over the top so they stick.
