Yield: 12 biscuits
Prep Time: about 15 minutes
Cook Time: about 10-12 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 2½ tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp kosher salt

  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper, optional

  • 1 cup buttermilk

  • ½ cup + 3 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted, divided

  • 1½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

Directions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 450°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder, salt, and cayenne pepper, if using.

  3. Mix Wet Ingredients and Cheese: Pour the buttermilk and ½ cup melted butter into the dry ingredients. Stir just until they are combined. Gently fold in the shredded cheddar cheese.

  4. Scoop and Bake: Drop approximately ¼-cup portions of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown.

  5. Prepare Garlic Butter Topping: While the biscuits are baking, melt the 3 tablespoons of butter for the topping. Stir in the fresh parsley and ½ teaspoon of garlic powder.

  6. Brush and Serve: As soon as the biscuits come out of the oven, brush them generously with the garlic butter topping. Serve warm and enjoy!
