Chocolate Ooey Gooey Butter Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 box (15.25 oz) chocolate fudge cake mix

  • ½ cup salted butter, melted

  • 4 eggs, divided

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened

  • 5 tablespoons cocoa powder

  • 4 cups powdered sugar

 

Directions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan

  2. Make the Base: In a mixing bowl, combine cake mix, melted butter, 2 eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until well blended. Pat the mixture evenly into the prepared pan.

  3. Make the Topping: In another bowl, beat together softened cream cheese, cocoa powder, and the remaining 2 eggs until smooth. Slowly beat in powdered sugar until fully incorporated.

  4. Assemble: Pour the topping over the cake base, spreading it evenly.

  5. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean, about 45 minutes. Let cool before slicing.
