Fireside Garlic Naan

Soft, fluffy homemade garlic naan with a lightly charred exterior and tender interior.

Ingredients

  • 2½ cups bread flour, plus extra for dusting

  • 1½ teaspoons instant yeast

  • 2 cloves garlic, grated or 1 tablespoon garlic paste

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 4 tablespoons Greek yogurt

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil

  • ¾ cup warm water

    Garlic Oil:

  • 1 cup olive oil or beef tallow

  • 1 tablespoon garlic paste

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning or herb blend

 

Directions

  1. Mix all dough ingredients until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms. Knead briefly, cover, and let rise for 1 to 1½ hours, until doubled.

  2. Divide into 8 portions (or 6 large), roll into ⅛ inch thick ovals, and let rest 10 minutes.

  3. Mix the garlic oil ingredients together.

  4. Brush both sides of each naan with the garlic oil.

  5. Grill or cook in a cast iron skillet over medium low heat for 2 to 3 minutes per side, until bubbly, golden brown, and lightly charred.

  6. Brush with additional garlic oil or garlic butter while warm and serve immediately.
