Loaded Sausage, Cheese & Jalapeño Biscuits

Ingredients
- ½ lb browned ground sausage 
- 8 oz grated cheddar cheese 
- 2½ cups all-purpose flour 
- 4 teaspoons baking powder 
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar 
- 1 teaspoon salt 
- 1¾ cups buttermilk 
- ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted 
- 1 jalapeño deseeded & diced (optional) 
Directions
- Preheat oven: Set your oven to 450°F (230°C). 
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. 
- Pour the buttermilk into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. The dough will be slightly lumpy. 
- Prepare baking dish: Pour the melted butter into an 8x8 inch baking dish. 
- Pour the dough over the melted butter in the baking dish. Use a spatula to spread the dough evenly to the edges of the pan. 
- Use a sharp knife to cut the dough into 9 squares. 
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown.
