Red Velvet Neiman Marcus Cake

A rich, gooey red velvet dessert with a dense cake base and a soft, creamy top layer that bakes up slightly jiggly in the center.

Ingredients

  • 1 box red velvet cake mix

  • ½ cup oil

  • 2 eggs

    Top Layer:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, room temperature

  • 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar

  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

  • 2 eggs

 

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. In a bowl mix cake mix, oil, and eggs until thick. Press evenly into a greased 8x8 pan.

  2. In another bowl mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, melted butter, and eggs until smooth.

  3. Pour over the cake base and spread evenly.

  4. Bake 40 to 45 minutes until the center is slightly jiggly. Cool before cutting.
