Simple Strawberry Compote

Ingredients
1 cup strawberries, hulled and sliced
2 to 3 tbsp sugar
1 to 2 tsp lemon juice
Directions
Add strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice to a small saucepan.
Cook over medium low heat, stirring occasionally as the strawberries release their juices.
Let simmer 5 to 10 minutes until softened and slightly thickened.
Leave chunky or lightly mash for a smoother texture.
Remove from heat, cool slightly, and serve.
