Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Special Equipment: Large Skillet
Ingredients
1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
4 to 6 slices thick-cut bacon, chopped
1 small onion, finely diced
3 to 4 cloves garlic, minced
½ cup chicken broth or water
1 tbsp butter
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
Optional flavor boosters: red pepper flakes, lemon juice or zest, brown sugar
Directions
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove bacon and set aside, leaving about 1–2 tablespoons of bacon fat in the pan.
Add the diced onion to the skillet and cook until softened. Stir in the garlic and cook just until fragrant. Add the green beans, pour in the chicken broth, cover, and cook until the beans are tender-crisp.
Remove the lid and let any excess liquid cook off. Stir in the butter and reserved bacon, season with salt and black pepper, and cook briefly until everything is coated and glossy. Serve warm.
