Tomato Garlic Basmati Rice

A fragrant and simple rice cooker recipe featuring basmati rice infused with garlic and the natural sweetness of tomato. This dish is light, flavorful, and makes the perfect side to curries, grilled meats, or vegetable dishes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup basmati rice, rinsed

  • 1 ¾ cups water or broth

  • ½ Roma tomato (cut side down)

  • 1 garlic clove, minced

 

Directions

  1. Prepare the Rice Base: Add rinsed basmati rice, water (or broth), and minced garlic to the rice cooker. Stir gently.

  2. Add the Tomato: Place the halved Roma tomato, cut side down, in the center of the rice.

  3. Cook the Rice: Close the lid and start the rice cooker.

  4. Rest the Rice: Once finished, let the rice sit with the lid closed for at least 10 minutes before opening.

  5. Finish and Fluff: Remove the tomato skin if desired. Fluff the rice with a fork and mix the softened tomato into the rice before serving.
