Cook Time: 45 minutes
Special Equipment: Large pot.
Ingredients
400 g spaghetti
250 g ground beef
250 g ground pork
1 to 2 large eggs
Breadcrumbs, as needed
Garlic, finely chopped
Fresh parsley, chopped
Parmesan cheese, grated
Salt and black pepper, to taste
250 g fresh Italian sausage
100 ml olive oil
2 cloves garlic, chopped
800 g crushed peeled tomatoes
Tomato paste, a dash
½ glass red wine
2 tsp granulated sugar
Additional grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
Directions
Combine the ground beef, ground pork, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic, parsley, Parmesan, salt, and pepper. Form into meatballs.
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet. Lightly brown the meatballs and sausage pieces, then remove and set aside.
Add the chopped garlic to the same skillet and cook briefly without browning. Stir in the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste and bring to a gentle simmer.
Add the red wine and allow the alcohol to cook off. Return the meatballs and sausage to the sauce, stir in the sugar, and simmer over low heat for about 30 minutes.
Cook the spaghetti in salted boiling water until al dente and drain. Toss with the sauce or spoon the sauce, meatballs, and sausage over the pasta. Finish with plenty of grated Parmesan.
