Yield: 1 serving
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 30-45 minutes
Special Equipment: Long Toothpicks
Ingredients
16 Slices Thick Cut Bacon
1/2 tsp Fresh Cracked Pepper
1 Container Tropical Zinger seasoning (or preferred multi purpose seasoning)
8 Extra Long Toothpicks
1 Container Drunken Pineapple BBQ Sauce (or preferred BBQ sauce)
Directions
Roll the bacon into roses and flavor: Lay two bacon strips one on top of the other and season them with fresh cracked pepper for some flavor inside. Then roll the bacon strips tightly together. Use an extra long toothpick through each bacon rose at the bottom to secure from unrolling. Dust each bacon rose with Tropical Zinger seasoning (or seasoning of choice) to desired amount.
Cook your bacon roses: Cover a baking sheet with foil and place your bacon roses on the baking sheet. You can either bake in your oven at 375 degrees for 30-45 minutes for preferred crispness or can bake in your smoker over indirect heat. You need to be able to get and hold your smoker to 375 degrees F for 30-45 minutes to be able to render out the fat, cook the bacon through, and crisp the outside edges of the bacon.
Sauce the Bacon Roses: Once cooked, remove the bacon roses from the oven or smoker and put the desired amount of Drunken Pineapple BBQ Sauce (or your preferred BBQ sauce) on top of the bacon roses and serve. Remember to remove the toothpicks before consuming.
