Birria Rice

Toasty long-grain rice cooked in rich birria broth for deep chile flavor, savory warmth, and fluffy grains. Bold, comforting, and built to stand up to grilled or smoked meats

Ingredients

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice

  • 2 tbsp neutral oil

  • 2 cups birria broth (see note)

  • ½ medium white onion, chopped

  • Chopped fresh cilantro, to finish

 

Directions

  1. Heat oil in a skillet with a tight-fitting lid over medium-high heat. Add rice and cook, stirring, until lightly golden and toasted.

  2. Add chopped onion and cook 30–60 seconds until fragrant.

  3. Pour in birria broth and bring to a boil.

  4. Cover, reduce heat to medium-low, and cook 10 minutes without lifting the lid.

  5. Turn off heat and let sit, covered, for 20 minutes.

  6. Fluff with a fork and stir in chopped cilantro before serving
