Yields: 4-6 servings
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Special Equipment: large pan with lid
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp Italian seasoning
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
1 cup beef broth
½ cup heavy cream or milk
2 cups uncooked pasta (rotini, penne, or shells work great)
1½ cups shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
Optional: 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce or Dijon mustard for depth
Fresh parsley for garnish
Directions
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain any excess grease.
Add diced onion and minced garlic. Sauté for about 3 minutes until the onion is soft.
Stir in Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and tomato paste. Cook for 1 minute to deepen the flavor.
Pour in diced tomatoes (with juice), beef broth, heavy cream or milk, and Worcestershire sauce or Dijon mustard if using. Mix well.
Add the uncooked pasta and stir to combine. Bring to a simmer, cover the skillet, and cook for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender.
Stir in 1 cup of shredded cheese until melted and creamy. Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup over the top, cover, and let it melt for 2–3 more minutes.
Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot. Pairs great with garlic bread or a simple green salad.
