Grilled Banana Daquiri

Ingredients

  • 2 bananas (for caramelizing; you'll use ½ banana per drink)

  • 1–2 teaspoons sugar (for caramelizing, plus extra if needed for the drink)

  • 1½ ounces light rum (per drink)

  • ½ ounce dark rum (per drink)

  • 1 teaspoon sugar or honey (per drink)

  • ½ ounce fresh lime juice (per drink)

  • 1 cup ice (per drink)

 

Directions

  1. Caramelize the bananas. Slice the bananas and sprinkle lightly with sugar. Pan-fry them over medium heat until caramelized and golden.

    Option 2: Broil them in the oven until the tops are bubbly and browned.

    Option 3: Use a kitchen torch to brûlée the tops until caramelized.

  2. In a blender, combine

    ½ of a caramelized banana

    1½ ounces light rum

    ½ ounce dark rum

    1 teaspoon sugar or honey

    ½ ounce fresh lime juice

    1 cup of ice

    Blend until smooth and creamy.

    Serve immediately, and garnish with a caramelized banana slice or a wedge of lime if desired.
