Sloppy Joe Hoagie Sandwiches
Classic sloppy joes upgraded for hoagie rolls. Savory, saucy ground beef with just the right balance of tang and sweetness, piled onto buttery toasted rolls and finished however you like. Comfort food built to eat with two hands.

Ingredients
1 lb ground beef or turkey
1 small onion, finely diced
1 small green bell pepper, finely diced optional
2 to 3 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup tomato sauce or ¾ cup ketchup
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp brown sugar adjust to taste
1 tsp yellow mustard
½ tsp smoked paprika
½ tsp chili powder optional
Salt and black pepper to taste
4 hoagie rolls
Butter for toasting
Sliced provolone cheddar or pepper jack optional
Pickles or pickled jalapeños optional
Directions
Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium high heat, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Cook until softened and fragrant.
Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, Worcestershire, brown sugar, mustard, smoked paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
Simmer uncovered until thick and glossy, stirring occasionally. Adjust seasoning to taste.
Butter hoagie rolls and toast until golden.
Spoon hot sloppy joe mixture onto rolls. Add cheese if using and let melt from the heat or briefly broil.
Finish with pickles or jalapeños if desired and serve hot.
