Ultimate BLT

Golden, buttery toast. Crispy-yet-tender bacon. Juicy tomato, crunchy red leaf lettuce, and a sweet-savory bacon tomato jam that steals the show. It’s the BLT you know and love

Yield: 1 loaded sandwich
Prep Time: 10-15 minutes
Cook Time: 20-25 minutes
Special Equipment: skillet and parchment paper

Ingredients

  • 4 slices thick-cut bacon

  • 2 slices jalapeño cheddar bread or your favorite

  • 1–2 tbsp butter, for toasting

  • 2–3 leaves red leaf lettuce

  • 1 ripe tomato, sliced

  • 2–3 tbsp bacon tomato jam (*see note)

  • Optional: extra jam for garnish

Directions

  1. Prep the Good Stuff Wash and dry the lettuce. Slice the tomato.

  2. Bake the Bacon Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with foil and parchment paper. Arrange bacon in a single layer. Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until bacon is golden and crisp. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels. Let it cool slightly.

  3. Toast the Bread heat a skillet over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon butter or more. Toast both sides of each bread slice until golden brown. Set aside

  4. Build Your Ultimate BLT Lay out the toasted bread slices. Spread bacon tomato jam generously on the inside of both slices. On the bottom slice, layer in this order: 2 slices of bacon, red leaf lettuce, tomato slices, and 2 more slices of bacon. Top with the second slice of bread, jam side down.

  5. Serve Slice diagonally for that classic café vibe. Plate the sandwich halves. Add a dollop of extra bacon jam for dipping. Serve with kettle chips, pickles, or a bubbly drink of choice.
