Classic Butterscotch Sauce
Rich, buttery, and perfectly sweet. This classic butterscotch sauce is perfect over ice cream, cakes, or stirred into coffee.

Ingredients
1 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
½ cup heavy cream
½ cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
¼ tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
Optional: Pinch of sea salt for salted butterscotch
Directions
Melt butter: In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
Add sugar: Stir in brown sugar and cook 2–3 minutes, stirring until glossy.
Add cream: Slowly pour in cream while stirring—it will bubble.
Simmer: Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer 4–5 minutes until slightly thickened.
Finish: Remove from heat; stir in vanilla and salt.
Cool: Let cool slightly before using. Store up to 2 weeks in the fridge; reheat gently to serve.
