Ingredients

  • For the Chicken Skewers:

  • 500g chicken breast, cut into cubes

  • 1 cup plain yogurt

  • 2 tbsp daal seasoning mix

  • Wooden or metal skewers

  • For the Tomato Sauce:

  • 1 large onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 large tomato, finely chopped

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • For Serving:

  • 2 cups cooked basmati rice

  • Tzatziki sauce (store-bought or homemade)

  • Fresh cucumbers, sliced

  • Fresh tomatoes, sliced

Directions

  • In a bowl, combine the yogurt and daal seasoning mix. Add the chicken cubes and stir until they’re fully coated. Let them marinate for 10-15 minutes.

  • Preheat your oven’s broiler. Thread the marinated chicken onto the skewers and place them on a baking sheet. Broil for about 10 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked and slightly charred.

  • While the chicken is cooking, heat the butter and olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and sauté until they’re soft and fragrant. Add the chopped tomato and cook until it’s soft.

  • Pour the remaining marinade into the pan with the vegetables. Cook until it’s caramelized, then add the heavy cream. Stir until the mixture is thick and creamy.

  • To serve, place a portion of basmati rice on each plate. Top with a chicken skewer and a generous helping of the creamy tomato sauce. Add a dollop of tzatziki sauce and a side of fresh cucumbers and tomatoes.

  • Notes: • If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes before threading the chicken to prevent them from burning.

  • For a more aromatic tomato sauce, consider adding some fresh herbs like basil or parsley.

  • Remember to always check that the chicken is fully cooked before serving, as eating undercooked chicken can be harmful.
