Ingredients

  • 1 shallot, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 Tbsp butter -2 Tbsp flour

  • 1/2 cup half and half

  • 1/2 cup chicken or vegetable stock, plus more as needed

  • 1 Tbsp dijon

  • 1 Tbsp grainy mustard

  • 1/4 cup wine

  • 1/8 tsp turmeric

  • pinch of salt and pepper

 

Directions

  1. In a nonstick pan, melt the butter on medium heat. Add the shallots and cook until softened, then the garlic for a minute.

  2. Add the flour, and whisk until combined. Let this cook a minute or two.

  3. Lower the heat and stir in the wine. Stir in the mustards and stock. Once smooth, stir in the half and half, and let simmer a few minutes.

  4. Taste for salt and pepper and add those along with turmeric. Serve on mashed potatoes
