Perfect Fried Egg
A simple yet essential breakfast staple—this method delivers a fried egg with tender whites and a rich, runny yolk. Whether you like it sunny-side up or slightly steamed, this foolproof technique gets it right every time.
Ingredients
1 fresh egg
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil or butter
A pinch of salt and pepper
Directions
Use a cast iron or non-stick skillet and heat it over medium heat.
Once hot, add the oil or butter and let it heat until shimmering.
Carefully crack the egg into the pan, keeping the yolk intact.
Let the egg cook for 2–3 minutes, tilting the pan occasionally to redistribute the oil.
For a slightly firmer white, cover the pan with a lid for 30 seconds.
