Salt and Pepper Chicken

This quick, flavorful chicken is crisp, garlicky, and peppery with a tender inside and golden outside. Perfect over jasmine rice for an easy weeknight dinner

Ingredients

  • 1½ lbs chicken breast or thighs, boneless and skinless

  • 2 tbsp oil

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp white pepper

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 3 tbsp Kewpie mayo or regular mayo

  • 3 tbsp cornstarch

  • 1½ tbsp minced garlic

  • ½ lemon or lime, juiced

  • Cilantro, green onions, sesame seeds (optional)

 

Directions

  1. Season the chicken in a bowl with salt, black pepper, onion powder, white pepper, soy sauce, mayo, cornstarch, and garlic until fully coated.

  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high with the oil.

  3. Add the chicken in an even layer, sear until golden, flip, and finish cooking until the pieces reach 165°F and are fully done.

  4. Squeeze lemon or lime over the chicken and serve with optional garnishes.
