Sausage Bread
This savory sausage bread is made with layers of sautéed sweet Italian sausage, veggies, and gooey cheese all wrapped in soft pizza dough. It’s hearty, cheesy, and perfect for sharing—comfort food at its finest.
Ingredients
1 pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
1 lb sweet Italian sausage
1 chopped bell pepper
1 chopped onion
½ cup chopped mushrooms
Olive oil (for sautéing and brushing)
Grated Parmesan cheese
Shredded mozzarella cheese
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a skillet, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat. Add sausage, chopped bell pepper, chopped onion, and chopped mushrooms. Cook until the sausage is browned and the veggies are tender. Set aside.
Roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
Add a layer of the sausage mixture along one long edge of the dough. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and shredded mozzarella. Gently roll the dough over the filling. Repeat this layering process two more times: sausage mixture, Parmesan, mozzarella, and roll.
Once fully rolled, place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the top with olive oil. Bake for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
