Simple Bhatura

Light, fluffy, deep fried bhatura made with a combination of self raising flour and plain flour. Perfect for serving with chole, curries, or your favorite Indian dishes

Ingredients

  • 300g (11 oz) self raising flour

  • 200g (7 oz) plain flour

  • 150ml (5 oz) milk

  • 150ml (5 oz) water

 

Directions

  1. Mix the self raising flour and plain flour together in a large bowl.

  2. Combine the milk and water, then gradually add to the flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.

  3. Knead for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. Cover and leave to rest for 1 to 2 hours at room temperature.

  5. Divide into equal sized balls and roll into circles or oval shapes.

  6. Deep fry at 180°C until puffed and golden brown, turning once during cooking.

  7. Drain on kitchen paper and serve immediately.
