Garlic Butter New York Strip Steak

A steakhouse style New York strip with a deep crust, juicy center, and rich garlic butter baste. Simple, bold, and cooked hot and fast for maximum flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 boneless New York strip steak

  • 2 to 3 tbsp butter

  • 2 to 3 cloves garlic, smashed or minced

  • Salt to taste

  • Black pepper to taste

  • Fresh rosemary or thyme optional

 

Directions

  1. Pat steak very dry, season generously with salt and pepper, and let sit 15 to 20 minutes if possible.

  2. Heat a skillet over medium high until hot, add a little oil, and sear steak 3 to 4 minutes without moving, then flip and cook another 3 to 4 minutes.

  3. Lower heat slightly, add butter, garlic, and herbs if using, then tilt the pan and spoon the melted butter over the steak for 1 to 2 minutes.

  4. Remove steak, rest 5 to 7 minutes, and spoon garlic butter over the top. Optionally deglaze the pan with a splash of liquid and pour over the steak.
