KFC Famous Bowls

This recipe recreates the famous KFC bowls at home with layers of creamy mashed potatoes, sweet corn, crispy popcorn chicken, savory gravy, and melted cheddar cheese. A hearty, comfort-food classic that serves 4–6 people.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups prepared mashed potatoes (store-bought or homemade)

  • 1–1½ lbs frozen popcorn chicken (or homemade)

  • 1½ cups canned or frozen sweet corn, warmed

  • 1 packet brown gravy mix or 1 cup jarred chicken gravy

  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese (or a blend like Monterey Jack or mozzarella)

Optional Add-ins:

  • Sautéed spinach or peas

  • A dash of hot sauce

  • Swap cheddar for pepper jack or smoked gouda

  • Crispy fried onions or crushed potato chips for extra crunch

 

Directions

  1. Cook the Chicken: Bake or air-fry popcorn chicken according to package directions until golden and crispy.

  2. Prepare the Sides: Warm mashed potatoes and corn. Prepare gravy according to packet instructions or heat jarred gravy.

  3. Assemble the Bowls: Spoon mashed potatoes into each bowl. Add a layer of corn. Top with chicken pieces. Drizzle hot gravy over the top. Finish with shredded cheese so it melts into the heat of the bowl.

  4. Serve & Customize: Add any optional toppings or mix-ins to suit your taste.
