Tofu Nuggets

These crispy tofu nuggets come together in the air fryer easy, protein-packed, and perfect for dunking in dairy-free ranch.

Yield: 20–24 nuggets
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Special Equipment: Air fryer, mixing bowls

Ingredients

  • 1 package vacuum-sealed tofu

  • 2 cups tapioca flour or cornstarch

  • ½ cup avocado oil

  • 2 limes

  • 2 tbsp vegan mayo

  • Hot sauce

  • Adobo seasoning

  • Garlic powder

  • Paprika

  • Sea salt

  • Oil for cooking, if needed for your air fryer

Directions

  1. Tear the tofu into nugget-sized pieces. Lightly coat the pieces with adobo seasoning (a little goes a long way).

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the juice of both limes, avocado oil, and vegan mayo until you have a dressing-like marinade. Add garlic powder and a pinch of sea salt.

  3. In another bowl, mix tapioca flour with more garlic powder and a good amount of paprika.

  4. Dip each tofu nugget into the marinade, then dredge well in the seasoned tapioca flour.

  5. Arrange the dredged nuggets on a plate and freeze for 15 minutes.

  6. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F.

  7. Place the nuggets in the basket in a single layer—work in batches to avoid overcrowding. Air fry for 15 minutes until golden and crispy.

  8. While still hot, transfer the nuggets to a bowl, sprinkle with sea salt, and drizzle with hot sauce. Toss gently to coat.

  9. Serve with plant-based ranch on the side.
